Top 5 Film & Television Apps Performance in Kenya Q4 2021

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the performance of the top 5 film and television apps in Kenya demonstrated diverse trends across downloads, revenue, and active users, as per data from Sensor Tower.

Netflix experienced a peak in weekly revenue, reaching around $1.3K in the week of November 29. Weekly downloads hit a high of approximately 288K in early October, while active users fluctuated between 452K and 504K throughout the quarter.

Showmax 1.0 saw steady download growth, starting at around 82K in late September and ending the quarter with about 20.7K weekly downloads. Active users reached a peak of roughly 316K in late September, tapering to about 228K by the end of December.

K24 Plus demonstrated a significant increase in weekly downloads, skyrocketing from 87 in mid-October to approximately 148K by the week of December 20. This surge was mirrored in active users, which climbed from 60 in mid-October to an impressive 177K by the end of December.

Viusasa maintained stable download numbers, starting the quarter at around 22.9K and ending at roughly 6.8K. Weekly active users remained relatively consistent, ranging from 59K to 79K during the quarter.

DStv had a varied performance in downloads, with weekly numbers peaking at approximately 14.6K in late November. Active users fluctuated, reaching a high of around 169K in late November and closing the quarter at roughly 150K.
